On June 7, 2018, beloved mother, wife, and aunt, Alice Maureen 
Duschanek-Myers passed away at 66 years of age at St. Marys Hospital in 
Rochester. She had been diagnosed with cancer only a short time before 
her passing but was surrounded by family and friends until the end.
Alice was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Ervin Duschanek and Roseanne 
(Wiskus) Duschanek on February 2, 1952. Alice moved to Minnesota to 
continue her education at Winona State University where she met the love
 of her life and children’s father, Robert E. Myers, and they married in
 August of 1985. She completed a degree in special education with an 
emphasis on early childhood development, and later in life completed a 
degree in medical coding.  Alice worked in group home settings with 
individuals with special needs for 38 years, including Hiawatha Homes 
(1980-2007), Possabilities, and REM in Rochester. She was also a 
journalist for 25 years at the News-Record.
Alice is survived by her husband, Robert E. Myers; daughters, Ariel 
Duschanek-Myers and Gisele Duschanek-Myers; nieces and nephews, Jenna 
and Neal Morrison, and Ann and Martin Killion; great-nieces and nephews,
 Brianna Killion, and Ashley and Zach Killion.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Roseanne (Wiskus) 
Duschanek; sisters Helen Killion and Phyllis Morrison; and brother 
Phillip Duschanek; along with lots of colleagues and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on June 22 at 1 p.m. at her home in 
Douglas. It will be a potluck and people are welcome to bring
