MASON CITY - Andrew "Andy" G Lowrance, 57 of Mason City, died Friday (May 15, 2009) at Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa in Mason City.
A gathering of friends and family will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.
Memorials may be directed to the Andrew G Lowrance Memorial Fund.
Andy was born on May 1, 1952, in Drama, Greece, the son of Gerald and Charlotte (Buell) Lowrance.
He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School of Council Bluffs in 1970 and later graduated from the North Iowa Area Community College. Andy was a "Jack of all trades" when it came to work, but specialized as a mechanic and computer technician for most his life. In most recent years he was a driver and trainer for Express Shuttle of Mason City. He was married to Audrey Boone from April 1973 to 1992, and from that union came three children.
Andrew loved woodworking, reading, photography and working on computers. His most profound joy came from his three children, of whom he spoke of frequently with intense pride.
He is survived his three children, Tobi Lowrance, Sarah Lowrance, both of Chicago, Ill., and Scott Lowrance of Sheldon; a sister, Becky Hunt and husband Dean of Omaha, Neb.; his parents; and two nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his nephew, Matthew Hunt; grandparents, Ambrose and Maude Lowrance and Leslie and Emma Buell.
