Age 61
Blue Springs, MO. Passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the St.
Luke's Hospital on the Plaza. He was born March 1, 1952 in Paducah, KY
to Joe A. and Judith M. McDaniel, Sr. He graduated high school in
Council Bluffs, IA and received his bachelor's degree in Psychology
from Bellevue University, Bellevue, NE. Joe retired from Blue Cross and
Blue Shield of Nebraska after 27 years of service. Joe was a member of
the Plaza Heights Baptist Church in Blue Springs, MO. He had a passion
for his faith in Christ and lived his life for others. He enjoyed
spending time with his family and tinkered with model trains in his
spare time. Joe required no admiration for his generosity.
He married Kathryn Shubert on June 5, 2010 in Blue Springs. In addition
to his wife, survivors include four children, Michael McDaniel (Amanda)
of Mt. Vernon, WA, Lisa van Dongen (Jules) of Kansas City, MO,
Christine Spooner (Michael) of Orlando, FL, Laura McDaniel of Chandler,
AZ; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Shubert of Blue Springs, MO; his father,
Joe A. McDaniel, Sr. and wife, Patricia of Mesa, AZ; two brothers,
Dwain McDaniel (Collette) of Urbana, IL and Preston McDaniel (Lynne) of
Gilbert, AZ; two sisters, Tamara Meenahan (Kevin) of Overland Park, KS
and Patricia Smith of Yankton, SD; four grandchildren, Paulina,
Suzanna, AnnaSophia and Peter. He was preceded in death by his mother
and an infant son, David.
A FUNERAL SERVICE celebrating Joe's life will be held 3pm Saturday,
January 11, 2014 at the Plaza Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Jim
Toliver officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3pm
prior to the service. Memorial contributions are suggested to Child
Evangelism Fellowship KC and may be left in care of the Meyers Funeral
