Kenneth L. Jessen

Kenneth L. Jessen, 53, of Council Bluffs died July 31 at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital.

He was born May 5, 1951, to Leroy and Helen (Christensen) Jessen. He previously lived in Crescent and Underwood, moving to Council Bluffs six years ago. He was a 1970 graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam War. He was a self-employed truck driver and had been driving over the road for the past 25 years. He was a member of Grace United Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Jessen and his wife, Kathy (Dunlavy), were married Jan. 3, 1997.

Survivors in addition to his wife include three daughters, Emily Jessen of Underwood, Andrea Jessen and Sadie Jessen, both of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two grandchildren, Amanda and Taylor Bryan; stepdaughter, Cindy Bryan and husband, Scott, of Council Bluffs; sister, Kathy Wilson and husband, Larry, of Long Beach, Miss.; half-brother, David Holsapple, and wife, Betty, of Omaha; nephews.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Lowell Knauss of Grace United Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post No. 2, with a lunch following at Grace Presbyterian Church.
