Left ALHS and went to the US Military Academy at West Point. Graduated with a BS in Engineering and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers in June 1974. Went to Airborne (jumped out of  perfectly good airplanes) and Ranger Schools enroute to Germany and my initial assignments in the Army. Served as a Platoon Leader and Company Commander. Returned to the United States in August 1979, received my Masters Degree, got married (to Sally) and was blessed with our daughter, Melanie. Following Grad School, was assigned to the Detroit District, Corps of Engineers where I had my "15 minutes of fame" appearing on Ted Koppel's "Night Line" during the Fort Wayne, IN floods of 1982. Returned to Germany in 1982, served on the US Army Europe Staff in Heidelberg. Assigned to Fort Ord, CA in 1985, Assigned to US Central Command in 1989, deployed to Saudi Arabia as part of General Schwarzkopfs staff for both Operations Desert Storm/Desert Shield. Assigned to Hawaii as a Battalion Commander with the 25th Infantry Division, 1991-1993. Attended the US Army War College, 1994-1995 and then assigned as the Commander and District Engineer, Memphis from 1995-1998. Currently assigned to Fort Leonard Wood, MO and will move to New York City (Fort Hamilton) in June 2000. Enjoy travelling, all sports (participatory and spectator) running (5K and 10K races), SCUBA, Sky-Diving and surfing the internet.
