Gary D. Wilson, 20, Trailer City, was pronounced dead on arrival
Saturday, March 10, 1981 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital after he was
accidentally electrocuted at the Griffin Pipe Products Co. He had been
employed for the past week.
Company spokesmen said Wilson, a laborer, was electrocuted while moving
an arc welder parked on top of a water drain he had been assigned to
clean.
A co-worker, Cary Coe, 31, Trailer City, was in good condition Saturday
at Jennie Edmundson Hospital. He was knocked unconcious in the mishap
and was admitted to the hospital for observation.
Wilson was a lifetime resident of Council Bluffs and was a member of
Emanuel Lutheran Church. He was a 1970 graduate of Abraham Lincoln High
School, a 1972 graduate of Iowa Western Community College and was
attending the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Survivors include his widow, Gwendy; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert W.
Wilson; two brothers, Albert and Dennis; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Edward Smith, all of Council Bluffs.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran
Church. Dr. R.J. Lingwell, president of the Iowa Synod of the Lutheran
Church of America in Des Moines, will officiate.
Interment will be in Ridgewood Cemetery. Visitation at the Meyer Chapel
will be until 9:30 p.m., Monday. The casket will remain closed at the
church Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church.
