I had a busy life for 30 years. I was lucky enough to be a part of history, go and see many places and countries and meet people for all walks of life from all parts of the world. I'd have to I fought many battles for both women’s and veterans rights. Right after graduation, I went to KS. and finished my training in computer operations. After graduation I was the 1st female computer operator at Mutual of Omaha. The atmosphere was uncomfortable, so I left, and the libber came out. I was then 1st female and youngest (2) department manager at the old DT/10story Ardans across from Brandies. I later became a manager for them, as well. In early1973 I joined the U S Navy-served 3 active and 9 reserves. I was lucky enough to be one of the very 1st female units to attend the brand new Orlando, Fl Boot Camp. We were the beginning of the all "regular Active duty women" in the military. It was no picnic, but I was strong and wanted to serve my country. (Just a note from Chatty Cath--I was the smallest but called all the Cadence for my unit!) We lost 30 some out of 66, but we were honor company--a proud moment for my Navy father of 3 girls! After school, I was chosen to be one of the 1st (and was the 1st for 3 weeks) enlisted females to serve at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda! It was interesting for not only the military, but the country in general. I was in DC for the Watergate, leaving of Nixon and coming of President Ford. I was a part many exciting surgeries and visitor to the National hospital. My doctors were a part of history making new techniques and advances in Maxilary/Mandibular cancer savings (with NIH). I did much traveling and was at the Vatican for Palm Sunday 1976 with one of Swedish Guards of the Vatican! I had an audience with the pope! In 1976 I started at IWCC and really found my voice. I became a Veterans Advocate and established many veteran programs. While doing this I became involved in all school matters. In 1977 I served as Vice and then President of student Senate. Next I got married, served with Reserves and Am. Legion, was again a retail manager. Next District Manager for Sarah Coventry jewelry, then I became an agent of Woodman of World Life Ins. Opened my office with Farmers Ins. Group, for several yrs. After falling ill, I took a crooked turn and became a Baker and manager. This was the beginning of my life long Cake business. I became Planning Director for Margarite's Catering (and did my cakes) until a stroke in Jan. 1998 eventually forced early retirement. I keep busy with many things and still do some cakes, and other sweets. I will be making pies and such for a new business this fall. I volunteer at Mercy Hospital and help friend/acquaintances in their time of need. I try to stay active in politics, volunteer often. Gardening is my hobby, and we also like to camp. When I can I'm still addicted to jig saw puzzles. Bob, Izzy and I spend much time walking and letting Izzy swim at Lake Manawa. My mother has been ill and now is in a home style living Alzheimer’s facility. I have been completely involved in her care and helping her thru this time with dignity.  Miss you all and hope to see you all at the 45th!
