After high school, I went off to Iowa State University where I met my
wife. I took a few classes too. We were married in 1974 and I graduated
in 1976 with a Masters degree in Structural Engineering. I had planned
to stop after the BS degree, but they paid me to get my masters degree
and I couldn't pass that up. After college, we moved to Ann Arbor,
Michigan where we started our family. Our first 2 boys were born there.
After 8 years in Michigan, I was transferred
to Southern California where we have lived for the last 30 years. Our
3rd son was born here. We have 3 granddaughters who now live in Las
Vegas, so we make a lot of trips there. Over the years, my engineering
work gradually shifted to computer programming which I enjoy very much. I
have been fortunate to have worked on many interesting projects in my
career from nuclear power plants to computer animation. My work has
taken me all over the country as well as England and Japan. As for
hobbies, I have always enjoyed woodworking and photography. We also like
to travel. We used to go camping when we traveled, but our backs now
prefer something a little softer than the rocks on the ground. Some of
our travels are now on 2 wheels. My wife and I each ride a motorcycle
and it is a fun way to travel. It really changes your perspective on how
you see things when traveling. It has been fun watching our children
grow and take on new responsibilities. Our oldest 2 sons have families
of their own. We have been, and continue to be, very active in our
church. We have been leading or working with the children's groups for
the past 25+ years and our youngest son is now one of the youth leaders.
Retirement is getting closer. We are looking forward to traveling more
and watching our grandchildren grow.
