Dennis "Denny" Sullivan

Dennis Ray “Denny” Sullivan, age 71, of Mankato, died on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at his home.  

Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, December 1, 2023 at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato. Denny’s celebration of life will follow the visitation at 3 p.m. The service will be led by Fr. John Kunz. Private family burial will be held at a later date.

Dennis Ray, the son of William and Ruth (Lichtenwald) Sullivan, was born on June 4, 1952 in Council Bluffs, IA. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, IA and attended college for 1 year. Denny moved to Mankato in 1975. Four years later he met Margaret (Meg) Horan and they were united in marriage on October 16, 1981 in Meg’s hometown, Rochester, MN. He was a sales representative calling on area banks, first working for U.S. Checkbook Co. of Omaha, NE, and then independently selling for Bear Graphics, Inc. of Sioux City, IA. He retired in 2018, after 43+ years. Denny was a member at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and Mankato Golf Club. 

Denny was passionate about golf, especially playing and hitting range balls with his son, and he had a close group of friends with whom he spent time on and off the golf course. He enjoyed fishing and watching sports events with family and friends, especially professional golf tournaments, the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings. 

He is survived by his wife, Meg Sullivan; son, Ryan Sullivan (Kristine Jeffers); grandchildren, Piper, Isabella and Maverick; sister, Kim (Dan) Ackart; sister-in-law, Marsha Sullivan-Jameton; brothers-in-law, Tim (Jennifer) Horan, Tom (Janet) Horan, Steve (Sherry) Horan; former brother-in-law, Brad Worrell; nieces, Katie Horan,  Lisa (Zac) Painter, Kari (Tyler) Amble; nephews, Colbey (Megan) Sullivan, Dustin (Jamie) Ackart, Derek (Emily) Ackart, Jason (Jenna) Worrell, Jim (Kelly) Horan, Dan (Maggie) Horan, Matt (Kelly) Horan; and his favorite nephews, Kevin and Steven Horan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Ruth Sullivan; Meg’s parents, Jim and Muggs Horan; brother, Ron Sullivan; brother-in-law, Andy Jameton; and sister-in-law, Betty Sue Horan (formerly Worrell).

Denny’s family loves him very much, and wishes that any tributes be gifted in the manner by which the donor chooses to honor him.
