I taught 3rd grade in Iowa City from the fall of 1975 to the spring of 1978. I was a substitute teacher in Lincoln, NE for the next year and then tutored math for a year. In the summer of 1980 our first child was born. I haven’t had a “regular” job since. I loved the classes which encouraged thinking and discussing. I loved doing things with friends – especially my “friend”, Alan. I now have teenagers who go to ALHS. The perspective is quite different.
